Upper School Spanish teacher (part-time)

This position involves teaching Upper School Spanish (potential for various levels) as a part-time instructor during the 2026-27 school year. The position may also include some advisory duties.

  • Demonstrates a commitment to proficiency-based, communicative language instruction aligned with ACTFL standards.
  • Maintains consistent and purposeful use of the target language (Spanish) in the classroom to support student language acquisition.
  • Designs and implements interactive, student-centered lessons and proficiency-oriented assessments to measure growth and provide feedback.
  • Understands the developmental needs of the early adolescent and adolescent child.
  • Brings imagination, a positive attitude, and energy to work with students.
  • Uses a variety of instructional strategies to engage learners and respond to different learning styles.
  • Collaborates well with colleagues to support curriculum development, oversee scope and sequence, and maintain program coherence.
  • Has experience teaching or can learn to teach a variety of levels of Spanish.
  • Integrates technology thoughtfully to enhance language learning and communication.
  • Will contribute in other significant ways to the Wilmington Friends School community.
  • Seeks to serve on a faculty that contributes significantly to school governance in division-level groups and through committee work.
  • Preferably has graduate coursework or an advanced degree in Spanish and/or world language pedagogy.
