DEFINITION:
Guide health education students in the pursuit of their desired health related program at CFCC (open enrollment and selective admission) by assessing their needs, goals, interests, and prior academic experiences. Collaborate with faculty members and Student Services staff to assist students in their enrollment steps and registration in required/relevant general education courses. Understand and interpret selective admissions processes of all Health and Human Services majors a CFCC to help prepare students for their impending application (“Intent to Apply”).
This is a Time Limited, Temporary Full Time Grant Funded Position. Position ends June 2027 with potential to be extended
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:- Receives general supervision from the Director of the Health Science Enrollment Center (HSEC).
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:- Advise students about all aspects of academic requirements with respect to the selection of courses.
- Initiate contact with students in order to inform and prepare them for general education course selections relevant to their Health and Human Services major.
- Assist students with “Parallel Planning” and consistently develop this concept to be a realistic resource to students who apply to highly selective majors.
- Provide support to students who visit the HSEC Center by greeting the students and assisting with check-in.
- Review and interpret placement and other standardized test scores.
- Assist students with learning how to understand the information on program websites, including the various program point count sheets.
- Assist students with course registration process (including teaching them to interpret program evaluations and use Self-Service registration as needed).
- Establish and maintain thorough understanding of Health and Human Services program requirements (as described in the information packets).
- Understand graduation requirements for Health and Human Services programs.
- Disseminate information on institutional policies and procedures.
- Assist with communications to students regarding student resources, academic planning, information sessions, and registration.
- Maintain accurate records of interactions with students.
- Provide students support when appropriate while remaining objective with respect to CFCC’s Health and Human Services program selection processes.
- Refer students to the appropriate specialized staff for issues such as comprehensive counseling, financial assistance, etc.
- Participate in events as needed (recruiting and onboarding related).
- Stay abreast of changing institutional information including admissions requirements, new programs, course changes, deadlines and other important dates, costs, etc.
- Engage in professional development activities.
- Participate in the HSEC’s planning, implementation, and evaluation of goals and objectives.
- Participate in Student Services programs.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

- College policies and procedures regarding Health and Human Services program admission standards and educational program requirements.
- The concepts of adult learning.
- Purpose of academic advising.
- Principles and procedures of record keeping.
- Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment.
- English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Demonstrate excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
