Position: Temp Faculty Center for Academic Advising UNI 101/201 First Year Seminar 2026-2027

Job Title

Temporary Faculty – Center for Academic Advising (UNI 101/201 First Year Seminar) –

Summary

Teach one or more sections of Center for Academic Advising courses – UNI 101:
First‑Year Seminar or UNI 201:
Transfer Seminar. These 1‑3 credit hour classes support students in building community, accessing campus resources, academic planning, career exploration, and overall adjustment to UNC Wilmington. Instructors are expected to teach on‑campus, with most classes scheduled between 8:00 AM and 4:45 PM.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver course instruction for UNI 101 and/or UNI 201.
  • Develop, organize, and grade course materials and assessments.
  • Provide academic advising and support to first‑year and transfer students.
  • Meet university standards for academic integrity and student privacy.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree.
  • Previous college‑level teaching experience, or experience in academic advising or student counseling.
  • Must complete the "UNI Instructor Information Session Video" prior to application.
  • Eligibility to teach (exempt from overtime if currently employed by the university).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior teaching experience in UNI 101, 102, or 201.
  • Experience working with first‑year or transfer college students.
Employment Notes

Position is temporary; length of assignment will be based on departmental need with possibility of continuation. Temporary employees do not earn leave and are subject to Affordable Care Act guidelines. Eligible candidates must demonstrate teaching qualification through official transcripts and documentation. Background checks (criminal, sex‑offender, and possible credit or motor‑vehicle checks) will be conducted. UNC Wilmington participates in E‑Verify.
