Research Analyst II – Temporary Industry‑Supported Capstone Coordinator

The College of Science and Engineering seeks a part‑time temporary professional to serve as the primary liaison for industry‑supported capstone projects across engineering and computing programs. This position plays a central role in strengthening industry partnerships, coordinating capstone project activities, and supporting faculty and students in the successful design, management, and delivery of applied, industry‑informed projects.

Industry Engagement and Communications

• Serve as the primary point of contact for industry partners supporting capstone projects.
• Develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective industry sponsors.
• Coordinate project scoping discussions, expectations, and communication between industry stakeholders and faculty.
• Facilitate ongoing communication to ensure alignment of project goals, deliverables, and timelines.

Capstone Program Coordination

• Support the coordination of capstone projects across multiple sections and disciplines.
• Assist with student team formation and development, including alignment of student skills with project needs.
• Work with faculty to ensure consistency in expectations, deliverables, and evaluation practices across capstone sections.
• Coordinate shared programming, workshops, and milestones across the capstone experience.

Student and Faculty Support

• Provide guidance to student teams on project management practices, collaborative teamwork, and professional communication.
• Assist students in developing high‑quality written documentation and oral technical presentations.
• Support faculty in mentoring student teams, including identifying and addressing team dynamics and project challenges.
• Contribute to the evaluation of student performance in collaboration with faculty across capstone courses.

Program Operations and Assessment

• Track project progress and outcomes across all capstone sections.
• Support assessment efforts, including collection of feedback from students, faculty, and industry partners.
• Assist in documenting best practices and continuous improvement of the capstone experience.

• Master's degree (or higher) in engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in technical communications, including written and oral presentations.
• Experience in project management and coordinating complex, multi‑stakeholder initiatives.
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and industry professionals.

• Prior experience working with industry‑sponsored academic projects or capstone programs.
• Experience mentoring or coaching student teams.
• Familiarity with engineering design processes and project‑based learning environments.
• Strong organizational and coordination skills across multiple concurrent projects.
• Ability to translate between academic and industry expectations.
• Effective facilitation of teamwork and conflict resolution.
• Clear, concise, and professional communication across diverse audiences.

• Hours Per Week: 20 hours
• Compensation: $2,800 – $3,000 per month

This is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department need with the possibility of continuation.
