Brief Summary of Work: The Honors College is seeking temporary/part‑time faculty for the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 academic terms to teach Honors University Studies courses. Part‑time faculty typically teach one course per semester.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach Honors University Studies courses in a seminar format encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, faculty‑student interaction, and experiential learning.
  • Deliver content appropriate for either 1‑credit or 3‑credit courses (e.g., HON 110, HON 210/211/212, HON 120/121, HON 191, HON 399).
  • Use primary sources, laboratory work, field work, or projects to provide unique learning experiences.

Minimum

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Master's degree with at least 18 graduate credits in the teaching discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Equivalent verifiable professional experience, certifications, or licensure may also be considered.

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit: The UNCW Honors College offers student‑centered seminars to high‑ability undergraduates, emphasizing student‑led discussions, creative research projects, and applied knowledge.

Special Instructions to Applicants: Candidates must demonstrate eligibility to teach that is assigned by meeting credentialing requirements via official transcripts. This is a temporary position with the possibility of continuation.

Benefits: Temporary employees are not considered permanent state employees and do not earn leave. Temporary employees are subject to Affordable Care Act guidelines.
