At Global Laser Enrichment (GLE), we’re building first‑of‑a‑kind technology that advances the future of uranium enrichment. We are seeking a Laser Integration Engineer to support the performance, integration, and optimization of GLE’s pulsed CO₂ laser systems and associated subsystems.

Reporting to the Laser and Process Science Manager, this role works cross‑functionally with Laser Engineering, Operations, Process Physics, Mechanical Engineering, and other technical teams to integrate laser performance into broader program goals supporting commercialization of GLE’s technology.

If you’re passionate about laser systems, hands‑on integration, troubleshooting, and working in a highly regulated technical environment—this is an opportunity to make a direct impact.

Why Join GLE?
  • Support first-of-a-kind nuclear technology.
  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines to solve complex integration challenges.
  • Contribute to a mission‑driven organization grounded in safety, quality, and innovation.
  • Competitive compensation, strong benefits, and long‑term growth opportunities.
What You’ll Do Laser System Performance & Optimization
  • Assist in the design and implementation of improved components for existing laser systems.
  • Help achieve and maintain optimum performance of pulsed CO₂ lasers and related subsystems.
  • Identify performance issues and recommend solutions for laser, electrical, and opto‑mechanical components.
Optical Layout & Integration
  • Implement precision free‑space laser and optical layouts.
  • Install and integrate optical and electrical components into working laser subsystems.
  • Support integration efforts requiring a multi‑disciplinary engineering approach.
Laser Characterization & Documentation
  • Work with senior engineers and engineering leadership to help define and conduct critical laser characterization.
  • Support data collection, analysis, and documentation of laser system performance.
  • Contribute to technical reporting and performance tracking as systems evolve.
Troubleshooting & Preventative Maintenance
  • Troubleshoot complex issues with laser and subsystem components.
  • Take a proactive approach to preventative maintenance and system integrity.
  • Assist in identifying potential failure points and recommending long‑term fixes.
Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)
  • Immediately report any safety or environmental incidents, unsafe acts/conditions, and near misses.
  • Follow all GLE EHS policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Actively contribute to GLE’s safety culture through best practices in planning and execution.
What You’ll Bring
  • A.S. degree in Lasers and Photonics or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience supporting laser integration and performance.
  • Experience with pulsed CO₂ laser systems.
  • General understanding of laser safety requirements and safe working practices.
  • Experience installing and integrating optical and electrical components.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and systems‑thinking ability.
  • Ability to work in technical areas with limited direction and high accountability.
  • Strong communication, computer, and technical writing skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a DOE/NRC Q-Clearance.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be willing to complete a drug test and background investigation as part of the selection process.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active DOE/NRC Q‑clearance or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in classified and/or highly regulated environments.
  • Experience with engineering design and/or numerical analysis software.
  • Experience with non‑linear optics.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast‑moving, first‑of‑a‑kind technology environments.
Important Note

Due to the sensitive nature of our work, U.S. Citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a DOE/NRC Q-Clearance are required.
