Job Description Summary
The Services Component Operation (SCO) Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for equipment upkeep, programming, process improvement, and other key manufacturing related processes for the GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy Services business. This role will own and support multiple technical processes and equipment in the production of complex commercial nuclear plant components in a precision metal machine shop. This role is a fully onsite position based in Wilmington, NC.
Job Description Essential Responsibilities- Embrace nuclear safety culture, where work is performed with an overriding priority on integrity, safety, and quality.
- Review, design, generate, update, and monitor manufacturing equipment, devices, systems, and processes.
- Support development of metal working processes, tools, fixtures and operations for stainless steel fabrications.
- Maintain and modernize manufacturing techniques and process monitoring to predict and prevent process upsets and downtime and minimize scrap/waste generation.
- Partner with other area engineers to enhance and modernize facility equipment.
- Develop programs, cutting paths, tool selection, quality controls program, qualification programs for CNC and manual metal machining (turning or milling).
- Create clear technical documentation, including work instructions and standard work, for production team members; maintain, review, update, and create area manufacturing documents for operation and maintenance activities.
- Support other shop-related excursions as technical engineering resource.
- Work cross-functionally with design and quality engineering.
- Embrace Lean manufacturing principles to facilitate and implement continuous improvement processes. Identify and implement proactive solutions.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives and overall growth of the shop.
- Assist supervision in training and assessing hourly operators in sound techniques and proper operation of equipment to meet safety, quality, and output targets.
- Other relevant job duties as assigned.
- Four (4) year technical degree in Engineering or equivalent technical discipline from a regionally accredited college/university with two (2) years’ experience in areas related to manufacturing engineering, OR
- Two (2) year technical degree in Engineering or equivalent technical discipline from a regionally accredited college/university with four (4) years’ experience in areas related to manufacturing engineering.
- Two (2) years’ experience with CNC Programming software such as Mastercam, EdgeCAM, Siemens NX, Solid
CAM, or Fusion.
- Ability and willingness to work onsite everyday in Wilmington, NC.
- Ability and willingness to work off hours to support key deliveries.
- Walk up and down stairs multiple times during the day. Occasionally climb ladders.
- Crawling, kneeling, crouching, reaching around manufacturing equipment on a weekly basis.
- Expert using PC and productivity software [examples include MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint].
- Maintain after hours cell phone availability.
- Work extended hours, off-shifts, and weekends if necessary.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and process engineering skills.
- Familiar with basic operation, troubleshooting and application of industrial equipment.
- Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLC), and/or Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and the associated human/machine interfaces (HMI).
- Experience with equipment installation and facilities modifications, including management of capital and expense projects.
- Demonstrated strong project management skills and success working on cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated work record of meeting goals and objectives.
- Demonstrated use and understanding of a change management process.
- Experience in manufacturing procedure and training development.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and function calmly and effectively in stressful situations.
- Prior machining knowledge.
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
Base pay range: $76K - $90K USD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. The position is expected to close on 3/6/2026, or thereafter. The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity.
