CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years has a W2 contract assignment for a Mechanical Engineer II.

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer II
Location: Wilmington, NC
Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Wilmington, NC
Pay Rate: Based on experience
Work Hours: M-F, 10-hour days, reduced hours on Friday, potential OT
Education: BS in Mechanical or other technical discipline
Summary: Hands-on Mechanical Engineer II to support the construction, installation, debug, and startup of manufacturing equipment and automated systems. Supervise and direct engineering techs, maintenance staff, and contract trades to ensure successful project execution. Majority of time spent on the manufacturing floor, driving installation and commissioning activities safely and efficiently.

- Lead mechanical installation, testing, debug, and startup of production equipment.
- Supervise engineering techs, maintenance personnel, and contract trades.
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and timelines.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and proactively address hazards.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and process issues, providing hands-on solutions.
- Redesign or modify mechanical components to improve performance or reduce installation costs.
- Interface with system integrators and equipment vendors for successful project delivery.
- Create, review, and maintain installation documentation, checklists, and specifications.
- Procure and expedite materials for new or modified equipment.
- 3+ years manufacturing experience with industrial equipment
- Hands-on with tools, instruments, and measurement/alignment devices
- Strong knowledge of mechanical drive trains, electrical and pneumatic actuators
- Familiarity with process piping and P&IDs
- Ability to manage multiple work streams and adjust to changing priorities
- Strong focus on job site safety and proactive safety practices
- Excellent communication skills; works effectively in team and leadership roles
- Ability to translate engineering solutions into actionable equipment/process designs
