Thermal Hydraulics Engineer– LOCA and Containment

Job Description Summary

As a contributing member of the LCA team, perform thermal hydraulic safety analyses for BWR plants, including currently operating BWR plants as well as new plants (ABWR and BWRX) operating or planned worldwide.

• Perform technical evaluations and analyses in the area of Emergency Core Cooling System Loss of Coolant Accidents, containment response and impact, hydrodynamic and pressurization loads, fuel performance, with general expertise in two‑phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques.
• Ensure work is in compliance with NRC regulated policies and procedures, as well as Quality Assurance standards.
• Participate in company initiatives, including process improvement and New Product Introduction opportunities.
• Participate in team process improvement/automation initiatives.
• Perform in cross‑disciplinary settings, engaging with interfacing teams responsible for mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design or other affiliated organizations to find optimum customer solutions.

• Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline (nuclear, chemical or similar) from an accredited college or university.
• Hybrid role: requires onsite work 3 days per week at GVH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC. Relocation assistance provided.

• Experience in thermal‑hydraulic modeling as applied to nuclear reactor systems.
• Progress toward completion of an Engineering Master’s degree.
• Experience with BWRs, 10 CFR 50.46 regulations, best‑estimate and CSAU applications.
• Experience with T/H system codes such as TRACG, TRACE, RELAP, or RETRAN.
• Programming experience in C#, FORTRAN, PYTHON.

• Annual salary range: $69,600.00 to $, with geographic differentials of 110%, 120%, or 130% in certain areas.
