Lead I&C; Instrumentation & Controls Embedded Software Engineer

Job Description Summary

Lead Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Embedded Software Engineer works within the I&C Engineering team of the GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) Engineering organization. The role focuses on designing and implementing I&C electronic hardware and software for nuclear power plants.

• Develop creative solutions and reduce complexity to create accurate and effective solutions for complex engineering problems.
• Prepare design specifications, develop software, perform module testing, and integration testing of the design.
• Perform code reviews and verify design specifications and reports.
• Engage customers to define scope, review results, and discuss technical risks.
• Perform integration testing of software solutions using Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL) simulation and full end‑to‑end operational testing.
• Work with the technical lead to establish an effective work plan, including time estimates, schedule estimates, requirements, and work processes.
• Apply engineering fundamentals and first‑order engineering principles to establish and confirm expected performance.
• Provide clear and complete analysis documentation in accordance with GVH engineering procedures.
• Manage time effectively to deliver quality deliverables within the expected project timeline.
• Communicate the status of work activities to leadership.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to junior staff.
• Effectively manage multiple priorities.

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer or software engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum 5 years of embedded software development experience, including a deep working knowledge of the C programming language and software development tools (Git Lab, IDEs, debuggers).
• Minimum 5 years of experience with C coding conventions, unit testing and integration testing of software.
• Eligibility to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export‑controlled information.

• Experience with C coding standards that meet desired functionality and familiarity with MISRA‑C.
• Ability to solve technical challenges through common design patterns and appropriate data structures and algorithms.
• Leadership experience inside and/or outside the classroom.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulate clearly.
• Experience with software development in industry‑standard environments such as DO‑178 and SEAL.
• Knowledge of common development paradigms (Agile, Waterfall).

Role requires access to U.S. export‑controlled information. Final offers will be contingent upon obtaining authorized access from the U.S. Government.
