Job Description Summary

The Services Instrumentation and Controls C10 / C35.6 engineer is responsible for designing, developing and testing embedded software (firmware), platforms and systems that control safety critical functions for the BWRX-300 Small Module Reactor.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy of assigned tasks.
  • Prepare requirement specifications and design specifications; develop embedded firmware and application software, perform module and integrated testing, and create documentation.
  • Engage customers to define scope, review results, and discuss technical risks.
  • Work with the technical leader to establish an effective work plan, including time estimates, schedule estimates, requirements and work processes.
  • Apply engineering fundamentals and first‑order engineering principles to establish or confirm expected performance.
  • Provide clear and complete analysis documentation in accordance with GE engineering procedures.
  • Manage time effectively to provide quality deliverables within expected project timeline.
  • Communicate effectively to leadership about status of work activities.
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • 6 years of experience in embedded software development including knowledge of common FPGA languages and software development tools (version control, IDEs, debuggers, etc.).
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge and experience with HDL languages (Verilog, System Verilog) and PLD/FPGA development tools (Quartus, Vivado, Model Sim, Questa, etc.).
  • Experience in nuclear design or equivalent highly regulated industry.
  • Competency in industry standards: IEEE, IEC, IPC, and quality.
  • Competency in modeling and test data collection tools.
  • Clear thinker, detail oriented, insightful, quantitative, balanced, and results‑oriented analyst and leader.
  • Proven track record of delivering commitments on budget and schedule with high quality results.
  • Strong verbal communication, facilitation and presentation skills for technical and business audiences.
  • Adaptive, able to quickly learn diverse organizational interfaces.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Solid technical writing skills focused on requirements and design documents.
  • Knowledge and experience with PCB design, signal analysis and system verification tools (Altium, PSpice, System Verilog, UVM, etc.).
Eligibility Requirements

For U.S. candidates: access to U.S. export‑controlled information is required. Final offers are contingent on obtaining authorization for access to U.S. export‑controlled information. For Canadian candidates: the position reports onsite to the Markham office three days a week and requires legal authorization to work in Canada. Background investigation and, if applicable, drug screening are required.

Compensation & Benefits
  • U.S. pay range: $98,400 to $164,000. Geographic differential of 110‑130% in certain areas.
  • Canada pay range: $110,000 to $160,000 CAD.
  • Discretionary annual bonus.
  • Relocation assistance provided for U.S. based position.
