Quality Engineering, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Electrical Engineering
Position Description
- Candidate will be an employee of the Fiber Plant facilities department and provide support to all areas of the fiber facility.
- Position is a Flex 40 position typically working Monday‑Friday; off‑hour support may be required to keep critical equipment operational.
- Coordinate and facilitate the completion of preventative and corrective maintenance activities independently or with the support of the Maintenance department and/or outside contractors.
- Ensure all regulatory checks on facilities and environmental control equipment are completed and paperwork is organized.
- Ensure all regulated waste is properly labeled, organized, and scheduled for disposal.
- Identify facility corrective maintenance needs through visual inspection and/or review of data gathered during daily inspection logs.
- Act as a medical first responder in the Fiber plant.
- Comply with all requirements in 40
CFR 261‑265 concerning hazardous wastes, including labeling, storage, and transportation from production areas to Waste Storage Pad. - Work with technical staff to resolve daily facilities issues.
- Ensure all product meets requirements as defined by the Plant’s Quality Management Systems.
- Comply with all applicable safety procedures and ISO
14001 EMS guidelines. - Other duties as assigned by supervisor or a member of management.
- Required:
Relevant technical degree or equivalent experience. - Preferred:
Associate’s Degree in Engineering or technology.
- Required:
Must complete OJT for specific job classification, as required, in a timely manner. - Must be able to read and understand electrical schematics to aid in equipment troubleshooting.
- Experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Preferred:
Experience in fiber optic manufacturing. - Preferred:
Experience with SAP or other CMMS system.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Detail and quality oriented.
- Knowledge of basic statistical tools.
- Motivated team player.
- Ability to work with little supervision.
- Ability to analyze data to aid in improving maintenance metrics.
