Senior Engineer - Outage Engineering

Job Summary

Senior Engineer to support Outage Engineering for GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy’s (GVH) customers. Design, develop, analyze and test Outage Servicing Tools and Equipment used during maintenance, inspection, refueling and outages in both Boiling Water Reactors (BWR) and Pressurized Water Reactors (PWR) at domestic and international Nuclear Plants.

• Execute the design, development and analysis for specialty tooling and equipment using sound engineering principles and adhering to engineering standards, practices, procedures, and product requirements.
• Develop Outage Servicing Tooling and Equipment of high complexity.
• Demonstrate solid knowledge of Mechanical Design principles, including mechanical design, component design, structural design, welding, joint connections, and fabrication techniques.
• Proactively communicate and deliver assignments on time.
• Identify and mitigate technical risk.
• Communicate technical details to fabricators through fabrication drawings, specifications, and direct communication.
• Generate operational instructions for newly developed tools and equipment.
• Contribute to the success of others by providing feedback and technical input during design reviews and verifications.
• Provide mentorship to peers.
• Provide emergent issue response to Field Services teams and Customers as required.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
• At least 8 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering and/or machine design.

• Proficient in 3D CAD design and computer skills.
• Experience in the development of equipment within the nuclear services sector, particularly with services provided during a maintenance outage at BWR’s and PWR’s.
• Familiarity with AISC, AWS, ASME BPVC, ASTM and solid understanding of Mechanical/Structural Design and Engineering principles.
• Ability to troubleshoot improperly functioning equipment and implement the proper changes.
• Ability to assess technical risk and devise suitable mitigation.
• Familiarity with LEAN tools and principles.
• Access to U.S. export‑controlled information is required; final offers contingent on obtaining authorization from the U.S. Government.

• Ability to obtain commercial nuclear site entry.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.
