Overview

As a contributing member of the LOCA, Containment & Stability Analysis Team, you will perform plant thermal-hydraulic safety analysis with two-phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques. You will support reload and design applications for Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) plants, including currently operating BWR plants as well as new plants (BWRX, Natrium) operating or planned worldwide.

Responsibilities
  • Perform plant thermal hydraulic evaluations and analyses in the areas of ECCS LOCA, Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and RIPD analyses.
  • Demonstrate general expertise in two-phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques.
  • Take responsibility for fuel project activities including reload analyses, methods implementation, power uprates, new fuel introductions, and safety analysis support for emergent fuel issues.
  • Collaborate in cross‑disciplinary settings with teams responsible for mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design, or other affiliated organizations to find optimum solutions.
  • Prepare, document and present technical data to internal and external customers.
  • Provide technical mentoring to support team development and knowledge management, including procedure development and adherence.
  • Develop and deliver training course offerings in support of external commercial requests and internal audiences for knowledge capture and transfer.
  • Lead team process improvements to drive speed and simplification.
  • Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with regulatory rules and regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or similar) from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in T-H Nuclear Plant Safety Analysis.
Preferred / Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in ECCS LOCA, Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and Reactor Internals Pressure Difference analyses.
  • M.S. Degree in Nuclear Engineering with experience in T/H modeling as applied to nuclear reactor systems.
  • Experience with BWR technology ECCS LOCA and Containment analysis to support applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements.
  • Experience with BWR/PWR T-H systems codes such as TRACG, RELAP, and TRACE.
  • Experience in Best Estimate methodology development (e.g., TRACG LOCA) and with Best Estimate and CSAU applications.
  • Programming experience such as C#, FORTRAN, or PYTHON.
  • Strong communication skills, high energy, integrity, and a demonstrated ability to energize others and drive solutions.
Eligibility and Location
  • Preferred work location: GVH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC or an approved GEV Hub location.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export‑controlled information. Final offers are contingent on obtaining authorization for access to U.S. export‑controlled information from the U.S. Government.
