Lead I&C; Instrumentation & Controls Hardware Engineer

Job Description Summary

The Services Instrumentation and Controls hardware engineer is responsible for designing and manufacturing Printed Circuit Board (PCB) equipment that controls safety‑critical functions for the BWRX-300 Small Module Reactor. This role will be highly integrated with vendors and focused on quickly ramping up suppliers to meet production schedules for a new product line of PCB hardware. The engineer will use technical problem‑solving, requirements management, and effective communication with internal and external teams.

• Demonstrate accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy of assigned tasks.
• Work with vendors to ensure designs meet required quality standards for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with design engineering and vendors to resolve manufacturing issues.
• Establish an effective work plan with the technical leader, including time estimates, schedule estimates, requirements, and work processes.
• Apply engineering fundamentals and first‑order engineering principles to confirm expected performance.
• Provide clear and complete analysis documentation in accordance with GE engineering procedures.
• Manage time effectively to deliver quality deliverables within the expected project timeline.
• Communicate status of work activities to leadership.
• Manage multiple priorities effectively.

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, systems, computer, or equivalent engineering from an accredited college or university.
• 4 years of PCB design experience in both analog and digital signals.
• 2 years of experience in PCB board production methods and best practices.

• Requires access to U.S. export‑controlled information; final offers contingent upon obtaining authorization from the U.S. Government.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada (or the United States for U.S. positions).
• Successful completion of a background investigation required.
• Drug screen requirement applies to U.S. based positions; not required for Canadian positions.

• Experience in nuclear analog and digital instrumentation, control, monitoring, and electric power system and field engineering.
• Competency in industry standards – IEEE, IEC, IPC, and quality.
• Competency in modeling and test data collection tools.
• Clear thinker, detail oriented, insightful, quantitative, balanced, and results‑oriented analyst and leader.
• Proven track record of delivering commitments on budget and schedule with high quality results.
• Strong verbal communication, facilitation, and presentation skills for technical and business audiences.
• Adaptive; able to quickly learn diverse organizational interfaces.
• Continuous improvement mindset.
• Solid technical writing skills with focus on requirements and design documents.
• Knowledge and experience with PCB design, signal analysis, and system verification tools (Altium, PSpice, System Verilog, UVM, etc.).
• Knowledge and experience with HDL languages (Verilog, System Verilog) and PLD/FPGA development tools (Quartus, Vivado, Model Sim, Questa, etc.).
• Extensive knowledge of PCB manufacturing methods and best practices.

Canadian position: $96,000 – $146,000 CAD annually.

U.S. position: $89,300 – $148,700 USD annually, with a geographic differential of 110–130% in certain areas.
