We are partnering with a highly respected engineering consultancy seeking a Senior Project Manager, Practice Builder to lead and grow its Land Development practice in Columbus, Ohio. This is an exceptional opportunity for an entrepreneurial Civil Engineer who is passionate about business development, client management, project delivery, and team leadership. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the future of the practice, driving strategic growth initiatives, expanding client relationships, and building a high-performing team.

You will have the autonomy to develop and execute a vision for the business while being supported by a well-established organization with a strong reputation for technical excellence and client service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the growth and strategic direction of the Land Development practice throughout the Columbus market.
  • Develop and execute business development strategies to secure new projects and expand existing client relationships.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, landowners, architects, planners, municipalities, contractors, and other industry stakeholders.
  • Manage and oversee complex land development projects from due diligence through design, permitting, and construction support.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Prepare and review proposals, contracts, scopes of work, and fee estimates.
  • Oversee project financial performance, resource allocation, and staffing plans.
  • Provide technical leadership on site development, grading, drainage, stormwater, utility, and roadway design projects.
  • Mentor and develop engineers, project managers, and technical staff.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify new market opportunities and drive long-term business growth.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professional development.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 10+ years of experience in civil engineering consulting and land development.
  • Proven success managing land development projects and client relationships.
  • Strong business development experience with a demonstrated ability to win new work.
  • Established network of industry contacts within the Ohio market preferred.
  • Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of site development, utilities, grading, stormwater management, and permitting processes.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects profitably while delivering exceptional client service.
