A Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading complex equipment and system design projects from initial concept through installation and startup. This role focuses on developing mechanical designs, creating engineering documentation, supporting manufacturing processes, and ensuring projects meet customer requirements, quality standards, and industry regulations. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, quality, service, and customers to deliver successful engineering solutions.
- Responsibilities: Lead equipment and system projects through the full lifecycle, including design, sourcing, assembly, testing, installation, and startup support.
- Develop and revise 3D models, mechanical drawings, assembly documentation, and engineering specifications.
- Create, maintain, and release accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), including subassemblies and related documentation.
- Apply mechanical engineering principles and calculations to ensure designs meet safety, performance, fit, and functionality requirements.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards and regulations.
- Support component selection based on technical requirements, performance criteria, and customer specifications.
- Review and manage engineering changes to ensure proper design intent, functionality, and compliance.
- Identify potential design risks and proactively develop solutions to keep projects on schedule.
- Collaborate with Mechanical Designers to ensure manufacturability, accuracy, and consistency of engineering documentation.
- Provide technical support during testing, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), commissioning, and customer installations.
- Partner with manufacturing and industrial engineering teams to improve production readiness and workflow processes.
- Assist service teams with troubleshooting, technical support, and product improvement initiatives.
- Communicate technical information effectively with customers, vendors, sales teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to engineering processes, documentation, and product performance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of mechanical engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with 3D CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar platforms.
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, GD&T, and assembly documentation.
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude with experience in prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and support customer interactions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering documentation systems.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically for installation, testing, and troubleshooting support.
