Job Description Summary

Job Description Summary The Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) hardware / FPGA engineer is responsible for designing and manufacturing of Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) equipment and embedded software that control safety critical functions for GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy’s (GVH) BWRX-300 Small Module Reactor. The role requires technical problem solving, requirements management, and effective communication/collaboration with internal and external teams.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for Semiconductor design and engineering; designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment and other hardware systems.
  • They determine design approaches and parameters; analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests & evaluate results.
  • Common skill sets include Analog, Digital, Mixed Signal, HMOS/MOS/CMOS, PLL, ADC, DAC etc.
  • Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy.
  • May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
  • Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work.
  • Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework.
  • Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures.
  • Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team.
  • For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE Vernova.
  • Explains technical information to others.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related STEM field from an accredited college or university. Minimum of 2 years of relevant engineering experience (such as PCB design or embedded systems).

Eligibility Requirements

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

Desired Characteristics

Experience in nuclear analog and digital instrumentation, control, monitoring, and electric power system and field engineering. Competency in industry standards. IEEE, IEC, IPC, and quality. Clear thinker, detail oriented, insightful, quantitative, balanced and a results-oriented analyst and leader. Adaptive; able to quickly learn diverse and varying organizational interfaces with professional astuteness. Continuous improvement mindset with an ability to identify, influence, and implement better ways to do an activity or process.

Solid technical writing skills with focus on requirements and design documents. Knowledge and experience with PCB design, signal analysis and system verification tools (Altium, PSpice, System Verilog, UVM, etc.) Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
