Senior Staff Accountant

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a respected nonprofit healthcare organization to identify a Senior Staff Accountant who is passionate about making a meaningful impact through their work. • Lead key components of the monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, identifying trends, risks, and variances
• Perform budget-to-actual analysis and collaborate with department leaders to explain financial results
• Support forecasting activities, rolling projections, and management reporting
• Maintain and reconcile complex general ledger accounts
• Process and reconcile bi‑weekly payroll, including review of shift differentials and supplemental pay codes
• Ensure accurate integration and reconciliation between payroll, accounts payable, fundraising, and general ledger systems
• Review accounts payable transactions and employee expense activity
• Serve as the primary point of contact during audits and prepare supporting schedules and work papers
• Research and apply GAAP guidance to accounting transactions
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and system optimization
• Provide support during annual budgeting and forecasting processes
• Serve as a backup to the Controller as needed

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
• Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial analysis, and month‑end close
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

• CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA certification
• Nonprofit accounting experience
• Experience with Financial Edge NXT, Raiser's Edge NXT, ADP Workforce Now, Avid Xchange, PEX, or Centage
• Experience supporting external audits and budgeting processes
