Description of WorkThe Judicial Services Coordinator (JSC) will exercise extensive knowledge of Structured Sentencing and its application to Community Supervision, as well as the Community Service Work Program. The JSC will maintain a working knowledge of local and regional community resources to place monitored offenders with government and nonprofit agencies. The role requires effective oral and written communication with the judiciary, offenders, and the public, ensuring thorough data collection, analysis, and utilization to interpret division guidelines, policies, and procedures.
The JSC will behave professionally at all times, as the position is highly visible within Community Supervision and frequently appears in court, interacting with judges, attorneys, district attorneys, clerks of court, law enforcement, and others to establish and sustain effective working relationships. The JSC is responsible for planning daily work operations, setting priorities, scheduling, and establishing deadlines for the caseload;
exceptional time‑management and organizational skills are essential, and the ability to work under stressful situations is required.
- Extensive knowledge of Structured Sentencing and how it applies to Community Supervision, including the Community Service Work Program.
- Working knowledge of local and regional community resources to place monitored offenders with government and nonprofit agencies.
- Effective communication skills (oral and written) with the judiciary, offenders, and the public; ability to collect, analyze, and utilize data to interpret division guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Professional conduct at all times; visible position within Community Supervision; frequent court appearances; ability to interact with judges, attorneys, district attorneys, clerks of court, law enforcement, and others to establish effective working relationships.
- Planning, prioritizing, scheduling, and establishing deadlines for the caseload; exceptional time‑management and organizational skills; ability to work under stressful situations; experience listed within the application or prior job duties.
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, human services, psychology, or related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Associate’s degree in criminal justice, human services, psychology, or related field plus two years of experience in the court system, paralegal work, or other directly related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma plus four years of experience in the court system, paralegal work, or other directly related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
