Brief Summary of Work for this Position
Duties include performing test procedures, interpreting results, resolving or attempting to resolve procedural and/or instrumentation problems, communicating information for clinical use, and preparing lab for CLIA inspection along with Lab Director. This position will interact primarily with patients, other staff in the health center, and the lab vendor.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, chemistry, or a biological science; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require compliance with current Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations.
- A complete knowledge of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment is required.
- A minimum of one year’s experience working in a lab setting is required.
- A general knowledge of the basic pathophysiological processes being monitored and how the medical laboratory science is applied is required.
- Excellent problem solving skills are required.
- Skill in the use of laboratory equipment and the performance of procedures is required.
- Must have the ability to effectively communicate with patients, families and colleagues.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- A minimum of one year’s experience working in a lab setting is required, 3 years is preferred.
- Previous experience in college health or a clinic-based lab is preferred. ASCP Certification is preferred.
