SCHOOL IT SUPPORT SPECIALIST (part-time)
At Girls Leadership Academy of Wilmington and Spark Academy we seek an individual passionate about instructional technology, committed to supporting student achievement, and possessing strong critical‑thinking skills. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues, families, and staff to enable student success.
OverviewWe offer a vibrant "whole girl" education environment that emphasizes leadership development, early college and career awareness, health and wellness, and expanded opportunities in STEM and the arts. The role supports technology across two campuses (GLOW and Spark) and involves hands‑on support, network maintenance, security management, and instructional technology training.
Responsibilities- Provide first‑level technical support to staff and students for hardware, software, network, and account‑related issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with laptops, desktops, tablets, printers, projectors, and interactive whiteboards.
- Maintain a help desk ticketing system and ensure timely resolution of requests.
- Assist with setup, configuration, and maintenance of network devices, servers, and classroom technology.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of IT assets and manage device check‑in/out procedures.
- Support user account creation and permissions management for Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and other school platforms.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and cybersecurity best practices, including password management and endpoint security.
- Provide training and assistance to teachers and students on educational technology tools and digital learning platforms.
- Support administration of standardized online testing environments such as NWEA MAP and state assessments.
- Collaborate with school leadership and the Director of Technology to plan upgrades, deployments, and long‑term IT initiatives.
- Recommend improvements to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
- Associate degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- 2–3 years of IT experience, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with Windows, ChromeOS, and macOS devices.
- Experience with Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft 365, and basic networking concepts (Wi‑Fi, DNS, DHCP).
- Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a school setting.
- Experience with student information systems (SIS) and learning management systems (LMS).
- Familiarity with MDM platforms such as Google Admin Console or JAMF.
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certifications preferred.
- School‑based environment with frequent interaction with students, teachers, and administrators.
- May require occasional lifting of equipment up to 40 lbs.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours during major technology upgrades or events.
- Periodic travel between Spark Academy and GLOW Academy campuses as needed.
- Other duties as assigned to ensure successful and effective operations of the office/administration and the school.
Commensurate with experience.
SupportAll new staff will attend a formal orientation to learn more about the school, our expectations, and to help acclimate to the school community.
Requirements- Possession of a valid TB test issued by the local county board of health or a recognized medical authority is required for employment.
Part‑time, 12‑month. Reports to Operations Director. Available starting June 1, 2026.
