The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, and has approximately 17,000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well‑being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.
Descriptionof Work
The primary purpose of this position is to design, develop, maintain, enhance, document, and support computer applications for NC DHHS. This includes gathering requirements from users, designing databases and applications, programming, testing applications, implementing applications, training, and supporting users in the use of their applications. This work will involve maintaining superior customer relationships across the section and an understanding of the business functions and the technology components of the department.
TechnicalSkills
- C#, .NET, Microsoft IIS, SQL, and Git Hub
- Agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into specific software requirements
- Knowledge of general IT architectural principles, technical designs, and specifications
- Ability to learn new software systems and programming languages through self‑paced training
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with non‑technical clients
- Experience using SQL Server Reporting Services
- Experience using Microsoft Azure Dev Ops
- Experience using JIRA
