Position: Systems Administrator/ Data Analyst with Security Clearance

Position Overview

We are seeking a Systems Engineer III to support our New River team at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS). The ideal candidate will perform a variety of complex project tasks applied to specialized technology problems, including integration of electronic processes, resolution of system problems, and application of system engineering principles to secure systems design problems. The role requires in-person support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute system administration, database support, and cybersecurity compliance in a multiuser environment.
  • Deploy Windows operating systems, enforce DoD Information Assurance patch management, maintain DISA STIG compliance using DoD Cyber Exchange STIG Tools, and analyze vulnerabilities with ACAS scanning solutions.
  • Install and configure Windows Server and Client operating systems via local installation media.
  • Document organizational constraints and infrastructure sizing parameters.
  • Administer and host server environments for multiuser users.
  • Coordinate with the designated Information System Security Manager (ISSM) to align system operations with cybersecurity objectives.
  • Maintain compliance with DoD Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts and Bulletins (IAVA, IAVB) by applying system and software patches.
  • Architect, test, and maintain automated system backup and recovery routines to prevent data loss.
  • Sustain production applications, upgrade third‑party software, and troubleshoot hardware/software connectivity issues.
  • Monitor system health reports and review event logs in real time to identify anomalies or potential outages.
  • Identify system misconfigurations against DISA baseline policies using DoD Cyber Exchange STIG Tools.
  • Utilize the STIG Viewer Application and examine XCCDF files, marking checklist findings and outputting records.
  • Perform automated vulnerability scans using ACAS powered by Tenable Security Center and Nessus, analyze scans to identify threats and enforce remediation.
Required

Education and Experience
  • May require a master's degree and/or Ph.D.
  • At least 12 years of experience in the field or a related area, with a deep knowledge of security and network operations, vulnerability analysis, PKI, data encryption, key management, data warehousing, and data mining capabilities.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures, relying on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, and independently performing a wide variety of complicated tasks. May provide consultation on complex projects and be considered a top‑level contributor/specialist. May lead and direct the work of others and report to an executive or director.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
