Position Title:
Tech Support Analyst (GIS Tech Analyst)
This position is responsible for maintaining, updating and expanding the University's Geographic Information System (GIS) in order to support campus planning, utilities, facilities management and safety.
Responsibilities- Maintain and administer the University's existing GIS databases and applications.
- Collect, validate, and integrate spatial and asset data from multiple sources such as CAD drawings, field data, and enterprise systems.
- Populate and update campus features such as buildings, utilities, and infrastructure.
- Conduct field data collection using GPS, GNSS, and GIS tools such as Trimble handheld devices, drones, and survey equipment.
- Operate and maintain an unmanned aerial vehicle fleet (UAVs, drones) and the associated data collected through their deployment.
- Assist other Facilities departments and outside entities with data collection and storage for construction, utility mapping, and asset evaluation and documentation.
- Ensure accurate and updated data and imagery.
- Support integration between GIS and other enterprise systems such as asset management and construction project files.
- Ensure compliance with university data governance policies and applicable regulations.
Graduation from a two‑year technical college with a major in an Information Technology field and one year in the information technology field related to the position's role; or graduation from a four‑year college or university and one year experience in the information technology field related to the position's role; or graduation from a four‑year college or university with a major in an Information Technology area.
Related information technology experience may be substituted year for year for the required education.
Competency in AutoCAD/AutoCAD Map/ArcGIS/ArcGIS Server/ArcGIS Online/ArcGIS Viewer for Flex/Adobe Contribute.
Required Certifications or Licensure- Valid NC Driver's License or ability to obtain one within two weeks of starting employment.
- FAA and NC Commercial Drone Pilot License.
