Web Content Coordinator

DEFINITION:

The Web Content Coordinator supports Cape Fear Community College’s website and digital communications by creating, updating, organizing, and maintaining accurate, accessible, user-focused web content. The position works closely with the Web Developer and Community Relations team to ensure CFCC.edu provides current, clear, consistent, and easily navigable information for prospective students, current students, employees, and the community. The Web Content Coordinator provides day-to-day web content support while helping advance search engine optimization, accessibility, content quality, and the overall user experience.

• Receives direct supervision from the Web Developer.
• Exercises no supervision.

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Works with the Web Developer and Community Relations team to maintain and improve content on CFCC.edu.
• Completes routine website updates and maintenance requests from College departments while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established web and brand standards.
• Creates and updates web pages for CFCC programs, enrollment initiatives, campaigns, events, institutional priorities, and other College needs.
• Reviews and edits web content for clarity, accuracy, consistency, readability, and usability.
• Supports the development and implementation of web content standards, templates, and governance practices.
• Optimizes web content for search engines and emerging AI-driven search and discovery tools using appropriate content structure, headings, metadata, keywords, frequently asked questions, and other best practices.
• Uses web analytics and related tools to evaluate page performance, user behavior, search activity, and content effectiveness and recommends improvements based on findings.
• Monitors the website for broken links, outdated information, content inconsistencies, formatting issues, and other quality concerns.
• Ensures web content follows applicable ADA and digital accessibility requirements and established College accessibility standards.
• Reviews pages for accessibility concerns and works with content owners and the Web Developer to address identified issues.
• Assists College departments in organizing and presenting information in a clear, concise, mobile-friendly, and user-focused manner.
• Supports content migration, review, cleanup, and quality assurance associated with website redesigns and major web projects.
• Coordinates with College departments to obtain, verify, update, and archive web content as appropriate.
• Maintains organized records of web requests, updates, content reviews, and related projects.
• Works with the Community Relations team to ensure web content supports enrollment, marketing, communications, and institutional goals.
• Assists with timely web updates during urgent situations, institutional announcements, schedule changes, and other high-priority communications.
• Appropriately uses AI-powered and emerging technologies to improve content development, editing, search optimization, accessibility, quality assurance, and workflow efficiency while maintaining institutional standards for accuracy and quality.
• Works within the College’s content management system and established web development processes without disrupting technical functionality or site architecture.
• Collaborates with the Web Developer on technical issues, new functionality, integrations, and other projects requiring development support.
• Assists College employees who contribute information or content for the website.
