Carolina Legal Associates is actively recruiting for a prominent Creditors’ Rights law firm in Wilmington, NC. We are currently seeking driven candidates for multiple openings, including Paralegals and Legal Assistants. This position includes bankruptcy and creditor rights litigation.
This client specializes in high-volume litigation, specifically focusing on bankruptcy, foreclosure, replevins, and collections. While the firm offers training on specific practice areas, prior legal experience is mandatory. Candidates must possess a foundational understanding of law firm operations to manage the fast-paced workflow effectively.
About the Role:
Success in this position requires the ability to manage a heavy caseload with precision. The firm provides a collaborative environment and offers flexibility regarding daily work hours. However, candidates must reside within a commutable distance to Wilmington, NC, as this is an onsite position, however, a hybrid situation may be open for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
Selected candidates will support attorneys through the lifecycle of litigation. Depending on experience level, responsibilities include:
- Drafting and Preparation: Create legal documents such as summonses, complaints, motions, affidavits, and notices of sale. Prepare replevin documents for attorney review and execution.
- Case Management: Review, organize, and summarize complex case materials. Monitor dockets and email notifications to ensure no deadlines are missed.
- Procedural Execution: Manage the foreclosure process and identify key milestones in replevin actions. Assist with foreclosure sale documents and post-sale procedures.
- Court Interaction: Handle docketing, calendaring, and filing in both State and Federal Courts.
- Compliance and Billing: Ensure all actions comply with local, state, and federal laws (including RESPA and TILA). Accurately track and log billable time according to firm guidelines.
- Research: Conduct legal research and investigations as directed by attorneys.
- Bankruptcy Law: Handling UCC filings, Proofs of Claim, and Chapter 7 & 11 petitions.
What you bring:
To ensure a smooth transition into this high-volume practice, we require the following:
- Prior Law Firm Experience: Candidates must have previous experience working in a legal setting (Paralegal or Legal Assistant capacity).
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Windows, and legal management software.
- Attention to Detail: The ability to multitask without sacrificing accuracy.
- Practice Area Knowledge: Experience in Creditors’ Rights, Bankruptcy, Foreclosure, or Collections. Ideally 2+ years of dedicated Bankruptcy or Creditor Rights, including recent Chapter 7 and 11 work, but will consider if you have 2+ years of litigation experience
- Filing Systems: Proficiency with CM/ECF and a working knowledge of State and Federal court systems.
- Organized: Proven ability to manage and track billable time independently
