DEFINITION:

Technician I, Floor Care, is a specialized position within the custodial department  primary responsibilities include the restoration, preservation, and upkeep of flooring surfaces across various facilities on CFCC property.

In cases where custodial help is needed, this position will temporarily fill custodial needs as directed by the supervisor. Such duties may include, but are not limited to, mopping, general cleaning, trash removal, and restroom cleaning.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

  • Receives general supervision from the Director of Custodial.
  • Exercises no supervision.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential and other important responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Essential Functions:
  • Strip, wax, and buff floors as scheduled using proper and professional floor maintenance equipment and chemicals.
  • Identify and address floor care issues.
  • Move large furniture and objects with care, following safety guidelines to avoid injury.
  • Operate various floor cleaning equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, carpet cleaners, vacuums, steamers, and extractors.
  • Ensure completion of floor maintenance according to professional standards, procedures, and timelines.
  • Learn and utilize the work order system and building floor plans.
  • Monitor safety in work areas, using barricades and wet floor signs, and remove them after work is completed.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations established by CFCC.
  • Work a flexible full-time schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability To:
  • Stand, walk, bend, and lift heavy equipment for extended periods.
  • Lift 50+ lbs. without assistance.
Qualifications:

Knowledge of:

  • Building floor specifications, supplies, and equipment.
  • Operation of various floor cleaning equipment.

Ability To:

  • Maintain physical condition necessary for duties, including standing, sitting, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Interpret and apply CFCC policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Make sound decisions and respond effectively to questions.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Visual and auditory discrimination for observations, reading, communication, and operating equipment.
  • Physical stamina for standing, sitting, bending, climbing, and lifting.
  • Capable of making decisions and demonstrating intellectual capabilities.
Experience and

Education:

Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Experience:

  • At least 1 year of verifiable floor cleaning experience.
  • Valid NCDL driver’s license and a clean driving record, with proof required.
Additional Requirements:
  • Unofficial transcripts and/or training certifications must be submitted with the application.
  • Official transcripts are required prior to employment.
  • Educational credentials obtained outside the US must be validated by an approved credential evaluation service.
  • Veterans’ preference requires submission of a DD Form 214 during the application process.
