Regional Environmental Consultant – State Veterans Homes

Job Summary

STGi is seeking qualified candidates for this position in connection with an active Request for Proposals (RFP). Hiring for this role is contingent upon STGi’s selection as the successful awardee. The Regional Environmental Consultant provides leadership and oversight for plant operations and maintenance services across multiple long‑term care facilities within an assigned region. This role ensures safe, compliant, and well‑maintained environments for residents, staff, and visitors while supporting facility maintenance teams and aligning operations with regulatory and organizational standards.

Travel is required and is extensive throughout the assigned region.

Essential Functions Plant Operations & Life Safety
  • Oversee maintenance and plant operations for multiple long‑term care facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including CMS, Life Safety Code (LSC), NFPA, OSHA, and state licensure requirements.
  • Support Life Safety Code surveys, fire inspections, and environmental audits; lead corrective action plans.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, generators, fire alarm, sprinkler systems).
Preventive Maintenance & Safety
  • Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure timely completion and documentation of work orders.
  • Promote a culture of safety, emergency preparedness, and infection prevention within plant operations.
  • Support emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response activities.
Leadership & Staff Development
  • Provide direction, coaching, and support to facility Maintenance Directors and plant operations staff.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.
  • Standardize maintenance processes and best practices across the region.
Capital Projects & Vendor Management
  • Support capital improvement projects, renovations, and equipment replacement.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and consultants to ensure quality, safety, and cost control.
  • Review contracts, proposals, and service agreements related to plant operations.
Budgeting & Reporting
  • Assist with maintenance budgets, capital planning, and expense management.
  • Monitor regional maintenance metrics and provide reports to regional and corporate leadership.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
Collaboration & Communication
  • Partner with Administrators, Regional leadership, Infection Prevention, and Safety teams.
  • Serve as a regional resource for plant operations questions and problem resolution.
  • Communicate effectively with surveyors, inspectors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification or trade school preferred).
  • Minimum 5–7 years of maintenance or plant operations experience in long‑term care, healthcare, or regulated environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Life Safety Code, NFPA, OSHA, and CMS requirements.
  • Experience overseeing building systems and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Ability to travel regularly within the assigned region.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior regional or multi‑facility maintenance leadership experience.
  • Certification in healthcare facilities management (e.g., CHFM).
  • Experience supporting regulatory surveys and emergency preparedness programs.
