Position: Director of Manufacturing (Medical Device / Precision Metal)

A high-growth manufacturer is hiring a Director of Manufacturing to lead operations and scale capacity for ultra-precision small metal parts supporting medical technology. You’ll run manufacturing performance across safety, quality, throughput, and cost—while partnering closely with R&D and Engineering to develop, qualify, and sustain high-precision, multi-step batch processes (including chemistry-based processes).

What you’ll do Operational leadership & performance
  • Own manufacturing KPIs and deliver excellence across safety, quality, efficiency, and delivery
  • Build scalable plans to anticipate future capacity needs in a fast-growth environment
  • Strengthen operational robustness to improve assurance of supply
Process development, control & continuous improvement
  • Establish, optimise, and sustain multi-step, high-precision batch manufacturing processes
  • Ensure process changes are controlled, validated, and properly approved
  • Drive Lean / Six Sigma / continuous improvement across operations
People & cross-functional leadership
  • Lead and develop technicians/operators to produce to specification while operating equipment safely and efficiently
  • Maintain strong working relationships with R&D/Engineering; communicate challenges and wins openly
  • Collaborate with commercial/sales teams to ensure optimal customer outcomes
Broader operations scope
  • Manage supply chain, facilities, and related support activities for manufacturing
  • Continuously optimise for safety, quality, throughput, and cost
Requirements Required
  • 8–10 years’ progressively broader manufacturing leadership (e.g., medical devices, pharma, MIM, or process-intensive manufacturing)
  • Strong technical foundation in high-precision, multi-step batch processes (chemistry-based experience strongly valued)
  • Proven success with Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methods
  • Track record leading teams, scaling operations, and delivering KPI performance
  • Excellent communication and ability to influence cross-functional partners
