Provide quick response manufacturing support triggered by Operations feedback as well as product quality data. Overall mission of a MET technician is to optimize the Safety, Product Selects and Equipment Utilization associated with the manufacturing of Optical Fiber. Identifies and supports process improvements. Uses judgment, experience and initiative to resolve problems and make recommendations.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities- Help department achieve Safety and Lean goals.
- 2nd point of contact to provide 2nd and 3rd level electrical/controls/mechanical/equipment troubleshooting of production equipment issues.
- Responsible for monitoring area performance, identifying equipment/process issues, and following issues to closure.
- Manage multiple troubleshooting issues utilizing sound technical principles to drive resolution. Prioritizing issues against plant and department priorities.
- Receive training from engineering in technical SME areas, on new processes/equipment and/or on procedural changes.
- Receive hazardous material training for purpose of Spill Team support as well as supporting other Production activities involving controlled chemicals.
- Work with a variety of groups including operators, other support technicians, engineers, and trades to coordinate and direct equipment startup, repair, troubleshooting, and process changes.
- Oversee and direct Trades on repairs as necessary.
- Support Preventive Maintenance efforts on equipment.
- As needed, develop, document, and deliver training packages for new or modified equipment to production and support groups in the plant.
- Assisting engineers in the design, troubleshooting, documentation, and implementation of new or modified production equipment.
- Directing maintenance personnel in the construction, testing, installation, and debugging of equipment.
- Two year electrical/mechanical/or controls technical degree preferred (Associates)
- Will consider experienced candidates with demonstrated skills and work experience
- High school diploma and 10+ years manufacturing experience.
- Experienced in troubleshooting and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment
- Experienced in troubleshooting and repair of simple to complex mechanical devices
- Ability to read/understand electrical and mechanical drawings
- Computer literate and understands Microsoft windows to locate files, edit, save, transfer, etc.
- Sound decision making and prioritization skills
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the plant organization
- Strong people skills
- Ability to handle/prioritize multiple tasks as necessary
- Good process and equipment troubleshooting skills
- Mechanically and electrically inclined (aptitude for both)
- Good written and verbal communication skills (detailed oriented)
- Ability to train effectively
- PC proficient (Excel, Word, SharePoint, Passdown)
- Controlled response in emergency situations
- Willing to act as a motivator and role model
- Capable of using Diagnostic equipment
- PC – Data Analysis (PI, etc.)
- Works well in a team environment, is a "self-starter" and "results oriented"
- Acts and makes decisions in the best interest of the team
- Complies with all policies and procedures of the plant
- Works well with other disciplines (IT, mechanical, and process engineering) to fully understand manufacturing system functionality and design requirements
National/International; 0-100% < 5%
Hours of WorkMon – Fri 8 hrs/day (Periodic OT/Weekend work will be required) On-call support every 6-8 weeks.

The range for this position is $58,934.00 - $81,034.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
