The mission of BHFM is to equip the Church to care for foster and adoptive families.
POSITION SUMMARYThe part-time Director of Support Services is responsible for developing partnerships with churches and childcare agencies primarily in Burke County, NC. Church partners are encouraged to develop in-house foster/adoptive programs that can include Replanted support groups, Family Advocacy Ministries (FAMS), TBRI Training opportunities, and/or intercessory prayer groups.
Candidate MUST be located in proximity to Morganton, NC, to meet with families and ministry partners in person. Hourly pay of $20/hour. Specific duties include:
- Recruit Church Advocates and support them in their efforts to set-up Care Communities and other FAM ministries at the advocate’s church using BHFM tools and resources.
- Support Church Advocates in using the Promise Serves software platform to coordinate and manage volunteers and to document families and children served.
- Ensure volunteers complete and document all required training courses.
- Provide leadership and support to Replanted group facilitators and leadership team members.
- Ensure all appropriate training is complete and documented.
- Assist with implementation of a Replanted Fall Conference once established (future).
- Receive, vet, and respond to community requests for assistance.
- Connect families with churches to receive FAM-related support, or, if needs are outside of BHFM’s mission, connect families to other community services.
- Support the executive director and board in fundraising tasks as appropriate.
- Assist with special events including Creek Day and the annual Hope Encounter fundraiser.
- Serve as a spokesperson/representative in the local community.
- Participate in on-going training as needed.
- Dedicated to Big House Family Ministry’s vision and mission with a passion for serving foster and adoptive families.
- Agreement with the BHFM Statement of Faith.

- Demonstrated record of successful past collaboration in a nonprofit ministry setting.
- Ability to communicate across diverse audiences in various denominational settings.
- Strong community-building skills and eagerness to contribute to the BHFM team.
- Strong time management and organizational skills including an ability to work remotely with minimal oversight.
- Willingness to give and receive feedback.
- Ability to inspire and motivate volunteers. Flexibility in working toward meeting expectations while nurturing on-going participation.
- Experience related to foster care/adoption services is desirable but not required.
- The successful candidate must provide their own car to travel between churches and other business meetings. Travel expenses for work-related mileage will be reimbursed per BHFM policy.
- High School Diploma with associate or bachelor’s degree and/or relevant prior experience preferred.
