Licensed Practical Nurse - 1st Shift/Murdoch Developmental Center

NC Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the 1st shift at Murdoch Developmental Center.

Murdoch Developmental Center is a 24/7 state residential facility located in Butner, NC, serving individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD).

• Grade: MH07
• Recruitment Range: $46,220.00 – $56,812.00
• Shift: 1st Shift, 6:30 am – 3:00 pm (5 days per week; rotating weekends and schedule adjustments as needed)

The LPN will provide direct clinical services, medication and treatment administration, and nursing procedures as prescribed by physicians and outlined in the Person Centered Plan. The LPN works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and collaborates on planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.

• Deliver direct clinical care to residents, including medication and treatment administration.
• Perform nursing procedures and document them according to physician orders and care plans.
• Assist RN in planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans.
• Participate in routine and emergency health care events as an essential employee.

• Licensed to practice as a Practical Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
• Ability to pass Healthcare Provider CPR and Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) written and physical requirements.

• Current sign‑on bonus eligibility (see sign‑on bonus guidelines).
• Experience in a developmental or psychiatric facility (preferred).
• Knowledge of Person Centered Planning and Nursing documentation.

• Potential $4,000 sign‑on bonus contingent on 2025‑2026 budget approval.
• Eligibility requires 30‑40 hour work week; prorated for less than 40 hours.
• Ineligibility: prior North Carolina State government employment within last 12 months, previous sign‑on bonus, or placement/recruitment fees paid by DHHS.
