American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Wilmington, North Carolina.

- Work in a hospital medical-surgical unit caring for adult and geriatric patients
- Night shifts: 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15), with options for 36 or 48 hours per week
- Assignments range from 13 to 26 weeks
- Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:6-7
- Care includes insulin and heparin drips, wound VAC dressing changes, high flow oxygen, and occasional short-term BiPap support
- Epic is the required EMR system and Pyxis is used for medications
- Float required to similar units and inpatient holding areas
- Every other weekend and holiday work required
- Assignment to the Inclement Weather/Storm Team with possible required reporting during catastrophes
- Pre-assignment to other units or consolidation to a centralized office may occur mid-contract
- Responsible for general nursing duties for adult and geriatric med/surg patients with a daily census of approximately 43
- Charge nurse role required for night shift travelers
- Orientation provided for 24 hours
- Scrubs are not provided; navy color required
- Care for COVID-positive patients may be required
- Locals are accepted at this facility
- Maximum 7 days of RTO allowed for consideration
- RTO after booking is not permitted and additional unapproved absences may result in cancellation
- Travelers will be assigned to a weather response team as needed
- Active NC or compact RN license
- Current BCLS certification
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must be able to administer insulin and heparin drips independently
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- First-time travelers accepted
- Unit prefers experience with CPI and in a charge role
- Ability to work all scheduled shifts, holidays, and during inclement weather
