American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg travel position requiring Epic proficiency, trauma-level patient care experience, and comfort with 1:6-7 patient ratios on night shifts.
Details- Hospital-based Medical Surgical unit
- Patient population includes traumatic bone, joint, and soft tissue injuries, traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries, subdural hematomas, and neurological trauma
- Patient ratio of 1:6-7
- 12-hour night shifts (18:45–07:15)
- 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
- Contract length of 13–26 weeks
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required to similar units and alternate care locations, including inpatient holding areas
- Epic EMR experience required;
Pyxis also in use - Skills required include: heparin drips, PCA, colostomy care, feeding tube care and management, blood product administration, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, phlebotomy, PICC line management, IV starts, dysrhythmia management, O2 protocol management, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions/PPE, traumatic brain injury care, ortho trauma, surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac), nasal cannula, oral suctioning, tracheostomy management, and wound care
- Preferred skills include: ACLS, dysrhythmia interpretation, pre/post hemodialysis management, drip management, CVA care, pre/post neuro surgery care, and spinal cord injury care
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience within the last 5 years
- Epic documentation experience required
- Must be comfortable with 1:6-7 patient ratios
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- ACLS preferred
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted
- EKG testing must be passed prior to start
- Unit orientation is 12 hours; organizational education is an additional 16 hours
- Navy scrubs required
- Contract staff will be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
- Unit consolidation to a centralized location may occur mid-contract, with staff pre-assigned to units as needed
- RTO is not permitted after booking and cannot be arranged on-site; call-offs or additional RTO may result in contract cancellation
