American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring Epic proficiency and charge nurse capability on night shifts.
Details- Acute care hospital Med/Surg unit with a daily census of approximately 43 patients
- Adult and geriatric general Med/Surg patient population
- Patient ratio of 1:6–7
- 12-hour night shifts, 18:45–07:15
- 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
- Charge nurse role is required for night shift travelers
- Procedures performed include insulin drips, heparin drips, wound vac dressing changes, high flow oxygen, and occasional short-term BiPap with respiratory support
- No PCU-level patients on this unit
- EMR:
Epic (experience required); additional systems include Pyxis and SBAR communication - Every other weekend required
- On-call required for pre-scheduled call shifts
- Floating required to similar units and alternate care locations, including inpatient holding areas
- Contract length of 13–26 weeks accepted
- Navy scrubs required; not provided by the facility
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Current BLS certification required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must be proficient with insulin and heparin drips
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- CPI certification preferred
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted
- Travelers will be assigned to an Inclement Weather Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters such as storms or hurricanes — unit consolidation or reassignment may occur mid-contract
- May occasionally care for COVID-positive patients
- Holiday coverage is required
- No RTO is permitted after booking; any call-offs may result in contract cancellation
- Orientation is 24 hours
- BiPap support is limited and short-term; no additional training is required and is appropriate for all Med/Surg nurses
