American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring Epic proficiency, trauma-focused patient care skills, and comfort with 1:6-7 patient ratios on night shifts.
Details- Inpatient Medical-Surgical unit in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes traumatic bone, joint, and soft tissue injuries, traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries, subdural hematomas, and neurological trauma
- Patient ratio of 1:6-7
- 12-hour night shifts (18:45–07:15), 3 shifts per week; 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
- Contract length of 13–26 weeks
- Required to work every other weekend
- Floating required to similar units and alternate care locations, including inpatient holding areas
- Charting via Epic (experience required); unit also uses Pyxis and SBAR communication
- Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
- Mid-contract consolidation to a centralized office with pre-assignment to units as needed may occur
- Active RN license — NC or compact state license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience within the last 5 years
- Epic EMR experience required
- Required clinical skills: heparin drips, PCA management, colostomy care, feeding tube care and management, blood product administration, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, phlebotomy, PICC line management, IV starts, dysrhythmia management, O2 protocol management, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions/PPE, traumatic brain injury care, ortho trauma care, surgical drains, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleuravac), nasal cannula, oral suctioning, tracheostomy management, and wound care
- Must pass an EKG test prior to start
- Comfort with 1:6-7 patient ratios required
- ACLS certification preferred
- Preferred skills include interpretation of dysrhythmias, pre/post hemodialysis management, drip management, CVA care, pre/post neuro surgery care, and spinal cord injury management
- Unit orientation consists of 12 hours of unit-specific orientation and 16 hours of organizational education
- Navy scrubs required
- No RTO is permitted after booking; call-offs or additional RTO may result in contract cancellation
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply

- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years are required for consideration
