Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

Full-Time | Day Shift | On-Call as Needed

We are seeking an experienced and clinically strong Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support the daily operations of the Nursing Services Department. This role works closely with the Director of Nursing to ensure quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff accountability, and effective clinical operations.

This position is ideal for a nurse leader who is organized, hands‑on, and committed to maintaining high standards of care.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, and directing nursing services
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations
  • Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, and survey readiness
  • Provide clinical oversight and guidance to nursing staff
  • Assist with staffing coordination and scheduling to ensure adequate coverage
  • Monitor nursing documentation, medication administration, and treatments
  • Participate in admissions, care planning, discharges, and PASARR processes
  • Conduct rounds to ensure resident needs are met and standards of care are followed
  • Support investigations, incident reporting, and corrective action planning
  • Assist with staff development, education, and competency validation
  • Serve in the Director of Nursing role when assigned or in their absence
Qualifications
  • Current, active RN license in the state
  • Long‑term care or skilled nursing leadership experience preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment and regulatory knowledge
  • Ability to lead, coach, and hold staff accountable
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Organized, dependable, and solutions‑focused
Physical Requirements
  • Standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility
  • Assisting with resident care as needed
  • Exposure to clinical environments and healthcare equipment
