Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant – Inpatient Telemetry Cardiac Center

We are hiring a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for the Cardiac Inpatient Telemetry Unit at the Nemours Cardiac Center of the Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware. This is a full‑time nocturnist position, with weekend and holiday coverage.

Role Overview

The APP will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other health professionals to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care for critically ill cardiac patients as well as cardiac surgical patients throughout the peri‑operative period. Responsibilities include performing medical histories, physical examinations, interpreting lab and diagnostic data, developing and implementing patient care management plans, prescribing medications and therapies, and providing ongoing care coordination.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Practices collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers to provide high quality health care to children.
  • Performs appropriate assessment of patient/family upon referral/admission and appropriately documents history and physical exam data.
  • Performs ongoing assessment and evaluation of patient progress and revision of interdisciplinary plan of care.
  • Collaborates interprofessionally as needed. Identifies patient/family need for further resources and initiates appropriate referrals.
  • Documents patient care and progress on patient's chart.
  • Provides patient/family teaching based on identification of learning needs.
  • Acts as a patient’s advocate.
  • Acts as a role model to other members of the Patient Care Services Department to foster professional development.
  • Acts as a liaison between families and members of the health care team.
  • Promotes standards of care for the specialty area.

Qualifications
  • APRN:
    Compact State RN license, DE APRN License, Delaware CSR, Delaware DEA;
    Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification; AHA BLS and ACLS Certification upon hire.
  • PA-C:
    Current DE State Licensure, Delaware CSR, Delaware DEA, National Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, AHA BLS and ACLS certification upon hire.
