RN - Med Surg/Telemetry

This is an ED Holding Support Position located in the Float Pool. The ED Holding unit has patients located within the Emergency Department that are waiting for an inpatient bed in the hospital. They could have any medical/surgical adult diagnosis. Travelers are expected to take MS/Tele cases as well as float to ED and Med Surg areas as needed.

  MS/Tele, Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, Telemetry - on the unit monitoring, Telemetry - remote monitoring, Use of Rapid Response Teams. Colostomy care, Feeding tube care and management, Renal Failure, Blood Product Administration, Peripheral Line Care/Management, Phlebotomy, PICC line management, Heparin, Insulin, Isolation Precautions, Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac, CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Interpretation of ABGs, Nasal Cannula, Non-invasive airway management, Oral Suctioning, Oxygen face masks, Portable Oxygen tank, and Trachesotomy Management
• Certs: BLS, ACLS

Preferred Skills / Certs / Exp:

• NIHSS, IV insulin protocols, Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management, Accessing Ports, Central line blood draw, Starting IVs, CVA, Pre/Post Neuro Surgery, Spinal cord injuries, Traumatic Brain injury, Ortho trauma, Total Joint Replacements, Wound Care/Wound Vac

Patient Diagnoses:
Any adult Medical/Surgical diagnoses

Special Equipment:
Standard Equipment, cardiac monitors, IV pumps, other monitoring systems

Unit Systems (Medication, Documentation, Communication):
Pyxis, Epic, SBAR

Scheduling Type:
