The Registered Nurse – Cardiac Telemetry provides comprehensive nursing care to patients on a Cardiac Stepdown/Telemetry unit. This role involves continuous cardiac monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and specialized care before and after cardiac procedures. Nurses in this unit collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on a Cardiac Stepdown/Telemetry unit
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms continuously and interpret dysrhythmias using telemetry
  • Perform remote cardiac monitoring and promptly communicate significant rhythm changes
  • Care for patients pre/post cardiac procedures including catheterization and surgery
  • Perform sheath removal following protocols and monitor for complications
  • Administer cardiac medications including titratable drips such as Diltiazem and Amiodarone
  • Access and maintain ports/lines including implanted ports, central venous catheters, and PICC lines
  • Administer blood products while monitoring for transfusion reactions
  • Assess patient condition, monitor vital signs, and respond to changes requiring immediate intervention
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans
  • Educate patients and families regarding cardiac conditions, procedures, medications, and discharge instructions
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience
  • Unit will accept first-time travelers
Skills required
  • Telemetry and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience
  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias and remote monitoring
  • Pre/Post cardiac cath and surgery care including sheath removal
  • Port access and line management
  • Blood product administration
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in cardiac telemetry units or stepdown care settings
