Position Details
Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Catheterization Lab
Location:
Wilmington, NC
Agency:

Pay: $2,394 per week
Shift: Days, 4x9 hours (06:00–15:00 or 12:00–21:00)
Contract:
13 weeks (up to 26 weeks selectable)

- Check in and prepare cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, and radiology patients for procedures.
- Initiate IV therapy, obtain consent, administer pre‑procedure medications, and complete EPIC questionnaires.
- Serve as pre‑/post‑Cath lab RN for outpatient surgeries and EP/IR procedures.
- Manage post‑procedure patient care, including DTAP and post‑PCI discharge instructions for same‑day patients.
- Manage access sites (arterial and venous, femoral and radial), including radial compression bands, femoral closure devices, venous sutures, and sheath removal.
- Perform special procedures such as EP device cases, ablations, radiology post‑biopsy care, and anesthesia recovery when required.
- Utilize medication and documentation systems:
Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR. - Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams (phlebotomy, radiology, pharmacy, transport, rapid response, etc.).
- Maintain patient ratios in pre‑ and post‑area; float to other units as needed.
- Adhere to call, weekend, and holiday policies (no on‑call, weekends, or holidays).
- Registered Nurse with a valid NC license (Compact license acceptable).
- Minimum 3 years pre‑/post‑Cath lab experience; charge nurse or conscious sedation experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Epic charting system.
- Certifications:
ACLS and BLS. - Skills:
activated clotting time (ACT), antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, diagnostic cardiac cath lab, electrophysiology, emergency medications, infection prevention, dysrhythmia management, isolation precautions, 12‑lead ECG, PICC line management, procedural sedation and monitoring, reversal agents, Richmond Agitation‑Sedation Scale, sheath removal, IV initiation/maintenance, thrombolytics, vascular closure systems (Perclose, Star Close). - Travel experience required; must be able to start within 48 hours of assignment and complete required testing.
- Willingness to float within or near the facility.
- Ability to work a rotating 4‑day, 9‑hour schedule with 48‑hour guarantee.
Eligible for travel benefits, including per diem, with a maximum return‑to‑office of 7 days. Must work 2 of 3 major holidays. No additional RTO after signing. RTO not available during first week. Guidance on completion of required modules and orientation hours (24 hours). Compliance with local regulations and facility policies.
