Description of Work

The Nurse Supervisor III position coordinates and supervises campus‑wide nursing care activities for an entire shift, serving as the primary facility representative. The role oversees multiple units with similar resident needs, exercises high‑level clinical decision‑making, and manages after‑hours or weekend on‑call rotations. Additional responsibilities include conducting staff training, reviewing employee work, contributing to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and resolving minor employee relations or disciplinary issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and supervise nursing care activities for an entire shift.
  • Act as the primary facility representative.
  • Oversee multiple units with similar resident needs.
  • Exercise high‑level clinical decision‑making.
  • Manage after‑hours or weekend on‑call rotations.
  • Conduct staff training and review employee work.
  • Contribute to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Resolve minor employee relations or disciplinary issues.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing the provision of nursing care and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to independently plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Ability to lead a team; skill in delegation and making assignments.
  • Ability to guide and counsel subordinate staff and provide feedback and advice/counsel to nursing staff on care rendered to patients.
  • Ability to effectively teach nursing staff through orientation and on‑the‑job training.
Salary and Sign‑On Bonus

Salary Grade Range: $77,076 – $127,175 (based on experience and qualifications).

A sign‑on bonus of $10,000 may be offered to the successful applicant, contingent on the 2025‑2026 Budget Approval.

Minimum Education and Experience

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and four years of nursing experience, including two years of experience in a Nurse Supervisor capacity.

Veteran's and National Guard Preference
  • Applicants seeking Veteran's Preference must attach a DD‑214 Member‑4 Form (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) to their applications.
  • Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS), along with the state application if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.
  • Applicants who are former members of either the NC Army National Guard or the NC Air National Guard, with honorable discharge and six years of creditable service, must attach a copy of the DD 256 or NGB 22, along with the state application.
