ED Holding Support – Nursing

ED Holding Support – Nursing

Schedule:

Days – 36 or 48 hours per posting

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years RN clinical experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
• Licensure: NC or Compact license pending
• Experience with MS/Telemetry care and monitoring, cardiac dysrhythmia recognition, IV therapy, airway support, wound care, and hemodialysis pre/post care preferred.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in an ED holding area, including monitoring vital signs and managing medical needs.
• Recognize and manage cardiac dysrhythmias, utilizing rapid response and code teams as necessary.
• Administer medications and blood products, perform IV therapy, and manage central lines and other peripheral access.
• Support patients with airway management, including CPAP/BiPAP and tracheostomy care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Respond to emergencies and participate in disaster response as required.

Compliance / Notes:

• Must successfully complete pre-start requirements and EKG testing.
• RTO must be pre-approved; up to 7 days automatically approved (excluding major holidays).
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays and be available to report during catastrophic events.
