A compassionate and dedicated caregiver ready to make a meaningful impact? Join the NC Department of Adult Correction as a CNA I, where you’ll work alongside healthcare professionals to provide essential care and support to patients in a secure, structured environment.
Responsibilities- Support RNs, LPNs, and Health Care Technicians with patient care tasks, including obtaining vital signs, weight, and height.
- Prepare patients for examinations.
- Assist patients with daily activities such as feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting, ambulation, and repositioning.
- Safely transport patients as needed.
- Observe and report patient conditions to nursing staff.
- Collect and label specimens (blood, urine, feces, and sputum) within your scope of practice.
- Maintain a clean and organized patient environment, including changing linens and making beds.
- Engage with patients in therapeutic and recreational activities, particularly in mental health settings.
Pay rate is $20/hour with no benefits included. Temporary Role: 11 months with a 31-day break; renewal opportunities available.
LocationStatewide – variation of shift assignments according to facility; therefore, the availability of specific shifts will be discussed during the interview process.
EligibilityApplicants must pass a background check to qualify.
QualificationsTo qualify for this position, applicants must document that they possess the following:
- Demonstrated general knowledge of nursing methods and techniques in caring for medical, surgical and/or mentally ill patients.
High School or General Educational Development diploma (GED) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Condition for Continued EmploymentListing as a Nurse Aide I by the NC Division of Health Service Regulation.
