Job TitleRegistered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown (Cardiac)
LocationWilmington, NC
Schedule / Job TypeContract – Night Shift (3x12 Hours, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) – 36 Hours per Week – 13–26 Week Assignment – Onsite
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care on a cardiac IMC/PCU/Stepdown unit managing diagnoses including Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, cardiomyopathy, and vascular conditions.
- Monitor and manage cardiac telemetry, interpret and manage dysrhythmias, and oversee cardiac drip administration including titration.
- Perform and assist with sheath management and removal, arterial line monitoring, and management of chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac).
- Care for post‑procedural patients following cardiac catheterization, DCCV, electrophysiology procedures, pacemaker placements, and major cardiac and thoracic surgeries.
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment including Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, TR band, Fem‑stop, and epicardial pacing wires.
- Document using EPIC, communicate via SBAR, administer medications via Pyxis; adhere to unit float rotation and weekend requirements (4 shifts per 4‑week period).
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact state license.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor.
- Travel nursing experience required unless candidate holds more than 24 months of cardiac experience.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
- Proficiency in cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown care, sheath removal, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post‑MI care, pre/post cardiac cath care, and non‑invasive airway management (CPAP/BiPAP, nasal cannula).
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start.
- Arterial line management experience.
- Wound care and wound vac experience.
- Charge nurse experience.
- Opportunity to work in a high‑acuity cardiac specialty environment with exposure to advanced procedures including TAVR, CABG, Mitral Clip, and LAAO.
- Structured orientation provided with a defined float policy – travelers are not first to float per unit rotation.
