American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring a minimum of 2 years cardiac floor experience and NC or Compact RN license.
Details- Cardiac Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
- Patient diagnoses include Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, cardiomyopathy, PVD/PAD, vasculitis, and carotid stenosis
- Supports patients undergoing procedures such as CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO/Watchman, VATS, carotid endarterectomy, and vascular surgeries
- Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical step-down and 1:5-6 for lower acuity
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15), 36 hours per week
- Contract lengths range from 13 to 26 weeks
- Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 4-week period (flexible)
- Floating required per unit rotation, though not first to float
- Uses Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication systems
- Utilizes equipment including Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-stop, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires
- Active RN license (NC or Compact); pending license accepted at time of submission
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac floor experience required
- Prior traveler experience required unless candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac experience
- EPIC charting experience preferred
- Skilled in cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown care, sheath removal, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
- Experience managing cardiac drips (titration and non-titration) required
- Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur Evac), external CPAP/BIPAP, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management required
- Arterial line management, wound care/wound vac, and charge nurse experience preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Provide direct patient care for cardiac and thoracic surgical patients, including post-cath, post-DCCV, and post-electrophysiology procedure monitoring
- Support pacemaker placement patients and manage sheath care post-procedure
- Unit orientation is 24 hours
- Navy scrubs required
- Must be willing to be part of the Storm Team/Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations
- Contract staff may be reassigned to other units as needed if consolidation to a centralized office occurs mid-contract
- Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
- Previous PERM/PRN/EP employees of the health system must wait 12 months before applying and disclose employment history for facility approval
- RTO of 7 days or less can be auto-approved (excluding holidays); no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- Travel pairs are allowed if placed on different units with separate transportation
- First-time travelers will be considered only if they have more than 24 months of cardiac experience
