ED Nursing Director

Key Responsibilities:- Oversee Emergency Department operations, ensuring patient care quality
- Lead and mentor a dedicated nursing team
- Manage departmental budgets and resource allocation
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, and shift coverage
- Implement quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain regulatory compliance and hospital standards
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams for patient flow
- Participate in on-call duties as needed
- Drive continuous improvement and process optimization
- Foster a culture of excellence and patient safety
- Provide leadership during critical events and emergencies
- Report performance metrics to senior leadership
- Valid NC RN License and BSN degree from an accredited nursing program
- Minimum 5 years of hospital emergency department experience
- Minimum 2 years in a leadership capacity such as Director, DON, or ADON
- Strong knowledge of nursing practices, hospital regulations, and ED operations
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop clinical staff
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage departmental budgets, oversee staffing and scheduling
- Ability to implement quality improvement initiatives
- Flexibility to assist with shifts as needed and work outside standard hours
- Must maintain current licensure with the North Carolina Board of Nursing
- Ability to adapt to flexible scheduling, including on-call responsibilities
- Facility located in Wilmington, North Carolina; candidates should consider housing options
Skills:
- Experience with process improvement projects and program development
- Familiarity with organizational performance metrics and fiscal management
- Additional certifications in emergency nursing or leadership (e.g., CCNL, CNML)
- Master's degree in Nursing preferred
