American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Telemetry RN for a night shift position requiring 2+ years of cardiac floor experience and NC or compact RN licensure.
Details- Cardiac Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
- Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical step-down, 1:5-6 for lower acuity
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:45-7:15), 36 hours per week
- 13-26 week contract options available
- Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 4 weeks (flexible)
- Floating required per unit rotation, though not first to float
- Patient population includes Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD/PAD, vasculitis, and carotid stenosis
- Specialized procedures include CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO/Watchman, VATS, carotid endarterectomy, and pacemaker placements
- Equipment used includes Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-stop, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires
- Uses Epic for documentation, Pyxis for medication management, and SBAR for communication
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending acceptable at time of submission
- Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac floor experience required
- Prior travel experience required unless candidate has 24+ months of cardiac experience
- Skills required include cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown care, sheath removal, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post-MI care, pre/post cardiac cath care, and management of cardiac drips
- Experience with chest tube management (Emerson/Pleuravac), external CPAP/BiPAP, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management required
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Arterial line management, wound care/wound vac, and charge experience preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and post-procedural care for cardiac and thoracic surgery patients
- May be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters
- Unit orientation is 24 hours, with pre-start modules totaling approximately 8-10 hours for this acute care role that must be completed online prior to start and annually
- Navy scrubs required
- Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility
- Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying and must disclose prior employment details, with facility rehire approval required
- Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between travel and per diem status, disclosing their status and intent
- Travel pairs are allowed if placed on different units and disclosed at submission
- Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment; all RTO requires pre-approval
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- First-time travelers not accepted unless they have more than 24 months of cardiac experience
