American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring 2+ years of cardiac floor experience and NC or compact RN licensure.
Details- Cardiac Telemetry unit within a Rapid Response setting
- Cares for patients with Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD/PAD, vasculitis, carotid stenosis, and venous stasis
- Supports pre/post procedural care for CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO (Watchman), VATS, carotid endarterectomy, fem-pop bypass, amputations, and other vascular/cardiac/thoracic surgeries
- Manages sheath removal, arterial lines, chest tubes, epicardial pacing wires, TR bands, and Fem-Stop devices
- Ratios vary by acuity, 1:4 for surgical stepdown and 1:5-6 for lower acuity
- Uses Pyxis and Epic systems with SBAR communication
- Night shift, 3x12-hour schedule, 36 hours per week
- 13-26 week contract options accepted
- Weekend requirement of 4 per 4 weeks (flexible)
- Floating required within unit rotation, not first to float
- May be assigned to Storm Team/Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events
- Active NC or compact RN license (pending accepted at submission)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required, NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac floor experience required
- Travel experience required unless candidate has 24+ months of cardiac experience
- Skilled in cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience managing and titrating cardiac drips
- Experience with non-invasive airway management, BiPAP/CPAP, and nasal cannula
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years preferred at submission (pending references accepted)
- Provide direct patient care for complex cardiac and post-surgical patients requiring close monitoring
- Perform sheath removal, dysrhythmia management, and non-invasive airway support as part of daily duties
- Unit orientation is 24 hours
- Navy scrubs required
- Must complete pre-start and annual online training modules (8-10 hours for acute care roles)
- Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility
- Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees must wait 12 months before reapplying and disclose prior employment details
- Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday, with no RTO allowed during the first week
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
- First-time travelers considered only if they have more than 24 months of cardiac experience
